File sharing is helping the music industry - NOT being harmful! When people like me download tracks via P2P software we listen to it, and if we like it then we buy the album. Saving on time downloading the whole album, saving on buying an album we don't like, saving on the music industry having to push their artists as much.

KazaaLite The P2P software of choice at the moment (2003) with all the Spyware of Kazaa removed this slimline version does just as good a job.

ZeroPaid An independent review site for the file sharing software avaliable on the net.

Gnutella The next generation Napster. You want to share MP3's? Well why not share COM's, EXE's, or anyother file type? Thats what Gnutella allows you to do.

EMusic Mainly American based indie labels. Flat rate subscription of £7 a month for as many downloads as you can, or 70p per download. [Blues and Jazz]

ICrunch UK equivalent to EMusic. Track downloads for 99p. [UK Underground / Dance and Indie]

MusicNet Industry backed alternative to Napster! Has the collections of AOL Time Warner, Bertelsmann, and EMI. Does have subscription (don't know how much) [Big names (e.g. Corrs, Robbie Williams)]

Playlouder Download tracks for 99p, artists like Artful Dodger, Badly Drawn Boy. [Indie]
Includes RealPlayer Radio station!
